Questions about the Beacon PTA Spring 2023 auction?
Here is everything you need to know about this exciting event!
How do I view the Beacon Spring Auction online?
Click HERE to preview all the items up for auction, search by category (such as “dining” or “fitness” or “entertainment”) and plan your bidding strategy. Items are still being added and some minimum bids have been lowered. Please check back often!
Can I bid on items if I don’t attend the auction?
YES! The silent and online auction have been combined into one and it is now live and bidding has begun. Click on the AUCTION LINK and start bidding online today. The bidding for all online/silent auction items will close on the evening of May 3rd, 2023. If you already have a GiveSmart profile, you’re all set; otherwise, once you click on an item to bid, GiveSmart will immediately prompt you to create an account – in seconds! All minimum bids are lower than the fair market value (FMV) of the item/s being auctioned.
Can I set up a GiveSmart profile but not bid?
Absolutely – just click HERE to register and create a GiveSmart profile, which is necessary to buy a ticket to attend the live auction and necessary to bid.
Will there be items available only at the auction?
YES! There will be exceptional items that will only be offered LIVE at the auction gala on May 3rd. CLICK HERE to preview the items on the live auction block!
When does bidding end?
The bidding for all online/silent auction items will close on the evening of May 3rd.
How do I purchase tickets?
Buy tickets online or at the door. The cost is $100 online per single ticket until May 2nd. On May 3rd, the price will increase to $125 for tickets, whether purchased online or at the door for the in-person auction gala event. CLICK HERE to buy tickets online.
I am a teacher at Beacon and would like to attend the auction. Is the event just for parents?
No! All Beacon teachers and staff are welcome to attend the auction as GUESTS of the PTA, and parents are contributing to sponsor those tickets (distributed on a first-come basis). Email us if you are interested in attending at beaconauctiongala2023@gmail.com.
What are the details of the live in-person auction?
Our spring auction gala starts at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3rd. It is being held at Taj Lounge, located at 48 West 21st Street, New York, NY 10010. There will be a band and a DJ, drinks and nibbles, a fast-paced auction with Alasdair Nichol of Antiques Roadshow on PBS… and fun!
Yes! GiveSmart is a secure platform, which the PTA (and hundreds of other non-profits) has used for multiple fundraisers.
Does the Beacon PTA see/save my credit card info?
No. Your info is secure in the GiveSmart system and you can always choose to delete it at any time.
How will I know the status of my bid?
Easy! GiveSmart will send a text message to the cell number provided in your profile. If a competing bid comes in you can choose to increase what you’re willing to pay for an item.
How will I know If I won my item(s)?
After the auction closes (evening of May 3rd) the PTA will notify the winning bidder for each item and will arrange delivery to you, send you e-gift cards/vouchers or connect you directly to the donor.
What if all of the items don’t sell?
You might get a second chance! If there are items left after the auction closes on May 3rd, we’ll open up a ‘last chance’ auction or raffle. Stay tuned!
I just secured a great item for the auction. How do I donate it?
Thanks for your support! Click HERE to donate an item/service/experience.
CLICK HERE to bid on a fantastic range of items, gift certificates and passes donated by Beacon families ahead of our live in-person auction gala on May 3rd at Taj Lounge!

Application extended through Friday, April 21, 2023
Thanks to the generous donations of Frankie’s community, we are launching the 2023 Frankie Morris-Perez Memorial Scholarship. This $2,500 one-time scholarship will support the undergraduate education of a Beacon School graduate committed to making an impact through the arts.
This scholarship is intended for a Beacon School student interested in studying human development and leveraging arts for change. A broad number of disciplinary fields of study and creative arts disciplines can be pursued to demonstrate this combined commitment. A committee of psychologists, applied artists, and educators – most of whom have no connection to the Beacon School community – will review all applications and make final decisions on awards. Awards will be announced before the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
The application is linked at the Brooklyn Community Foundation Website (here) or via this google form directly. You can review the application site and return to it later to complete it (students do NOT need to do so from their Beacon email address). The application can be submitted, saved and edited up to the due date of FridayApril 21 at 8pm, when final submissions are due.
Questions regarding the application process can be sent to Pamela Morris at pamelamorris2@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support in honoring Frankie’s legacy.
